Max Verstappen started the Grand Prix on pole position, alongside George Russell. George took the lead of the Grand Prix on Lap 1. Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari ended up in the gravel at turn 2, bringing out the yellow flags and then the safety car.<br/><br/>Russell held the lead on the restart, ahead of his teammate Hamilton, but the safety car was brought out again, when Albon crashed his Williams into the barriers on Lap 7. Russell and Sainz pit, before the red flag is brought out.<br/><br/>Hamilton holds Verstappen off the line, until Verstappen overtakes Hamilton on Lap 12.<br/><br/>On Lap 18, George Russell retires with a fire at the rear of his car. Sergio Perez rockets his way through the field in the Red Bull.<br/><br/>On Lap 47, Verstappen goes off the grass. Kevin Magnussen hits the wall and loses a tyre, which causes another safety car and then red flag.<br/><br/>On the third restart of the race, with two laps left, Verstappen holds the lead, but in behind, Sainz spins Alonsos Aston Martin around, as the two Alpines of Gasly and Ocon hit each other and the wall. Stroll, De Vries and Sargeant go into the gravel. Sainz gets a penalty dropping him to 11th and outside of the points.<br/><br/>The race finishes under yellow flags, as Verstappen wins ahead of Hamilton and Alonso on the podium. The rest of the points finishers were, Stroll, Perez, Norris, Hulkenberg, Piastri with his first career points, Zhou and Tsunoda.<br/><br/>The top 3 drivers and the winning Constructor (Red Bull) spray champagne on top of the podium, as Max Verstappen extends his lead in the championship standings to 15 points.
