In scenic Palm Springs, Carl and David are a long-standing married couple whose casual sexual alliance with younger single man Jason appears to be moving toward a threeway relationship. This comes easily to Carl, the more freewheeling of the triad, while David's uptight nature and Jason's general anxiety complicate the proposition.

The various tensions in David and Carl's relationship continue to boil while a flashback reveals that their first meeting, thirteen years earlier, happened on the heels of David grieving his first partner's death. Elsewhere, the triad seeks guidance from an acquaintance with her own history of being in a three-way relationship.
1x6 – Episode 6
A flashback recalls the first night Jason spent with Carl and David. Meanwhile, Carl clashes with his ex-wife over her concern as to how the triad may impact their nine-year-old son. When Jason arrives home to find that David has taken off following a bloody altercation with Aaron, Carl reveals his version of what happened. Once David returns, he reveals to Jason a very different account of the proceedings. With David and Carl's separation imminent, Jason is taken aback when both men confidentially ask him to join in a traditional relationship once the triad splits.
