An exceptional storm duly alerts meteorologists and infrastructure experts as the North Sea water rises scarily. The poorly defended Flemish coast soon starts flooding, yet evacuation starts rather low-key. Meanwhile the Dutch authorities hesitate to avoid panic, but are told chances look ever bleaker, and waiting longer means great risks.
1x2 – Folge 2
The coastal regions of Belgium and the Netherlands quickly flood now that the dikes are broken. In addition, the highways in the Randstad are congested because of the uncoordinated evacuation towards higher ground.
1x3 – Folge 3
The day after the storm the damage is visible: the water is 2.5 meters high in the coastal region, and tens of thousands of people are missing. In the deserted Oostende the only thing left are looters and corpses.
1x4 – Folge 4
Prime Minister Kreuger and Belgian colleague Verbeke debate about the distribution of the European emergency aid. The pressure on the coalition, and Kreuger, increases. Meanwhile, Marion is worried about her missing husband and daughter.
1x5 – Folge 5
A Thanksgiving Day is held now that families are getting re-united. While Kreuger is in the hospital, Deputy Prime Minister Wolbers makes a decision for the future of the Netherlands that has far-reaching consequences.
1x6 – Folge 6
Now that water is gone it's time to re-built. Some families fall apart, some are re-united. Samir sees no future for himself. For him it has becoming increasingly clear: The Prime Minister is responsible for his loss.
