Stefan doesn't share Marie's optimism that Konstantantin, not even being the biological father, will stand by pregnant Jenny, as the overprotected brat does so far. Stress mounts as the opening of the forest experience center approaches, but it may have to be called off when the illegal waste dumping Stefan's new dog helps discover is found contaminated with Hanta virus. That's transmitted by rodents, and the seniors are just desperately trying to get rid of a mouse in the youth hostel.

The forest experience center's financing is dubious after the town lost its quarry income. The mayor is delighted when a foundation offers to help, but Stefan's mistrust may justified as Grandl's scheming faction is probably behind it. Daniel finds practically free lodgings on site for his training with lonely farmer Paula. After Jenny's miscarriage, the adults doubt if Konstantin will stand by her, but mother's allowance blackmail drives him to move out and seek a place with Jenny.

Stefan remains more optimistic then his staff about the already delayed opening of the forest experience center. An early guest is a blind one, testing how accessible the facilities are for the handicapped. Alas, her guide dog is diagnosed gravely ill. Bickering Josef and Wolfgang failed to mind young Lucas, whom Stefan finds with the blind girl. Guiding her trough the forest later proves even harder. Mayor Kögl now aspires cohabitation.

Camping in the forest with some mates, Daniel gets a campfire visit from what seems a vagrant wolf and is unable to prevent Henry spreading the news. Stefan delegates the logging course, with only female pupils, to capable seducer Daniela and coarse old Franz, who each have an admirer among them. Stefan tracks the canine down, afraid hunters may kill it first. He identifies it as a Czech dog species and finds the young owner. Meanwhile junior son Lucas gets forgotten.

Stefan meticulously instructs which trees to fell. Yet a branch coming down from another just above a public bench wounds his father who noticed it just in time to prevent it smashing one of the kids he and Josef were showing around and teaching about the forest. Nearly everyone in Störzing feels miserable. Stefan remains sharply watched by the Forestry department and his family situation is very tense. The mayor painfully fails to avoid his feisty wife. Lake tourism is harassed by wild geese, which prove hard to chase. A falconer is unwisely called in behind Sefan's back. Josef and Marianne can't handle the youth hostel repairs viz. guests in comfortably rehabilitating Wolfgang's absence, yet he seems unmotivated to return home.

Stefan expected much-needed funding fro the nature reserve from sponsoring, but the bio-milk Grandl launches is exposed using dodgy cattle-feed by the local paper and activists. Konstantin learns his mother's firm may be bankrupted and thinks up a way out by founding a daughter firm. The bank refuses sufficient credit, but Stefan points out a farmers family looking for an opportunity. Wolfgang, now on crutches, tries to make him self useful but only clumsily bothers Josef and Marianne.

Stefan can only commiserate with a small, uninsured local timber grower who is loosing everything, due to a mysteriously appeared Asian citrus tree parasite. It's ultimately traced to Keppler's garden center, run by Eva's romantic partner. Gammerdinger builds an Alpine cabin for free for the nature reserve but gets a naughtily good deal when Grandl and her council ally want the rights to copy and commercialize it.

Stefan and Marie accept, surprise, to be witnesses at the wedding of the mayor and Daniella, which becomes public and subject to conspiratorial surprises after the mayoral secretary overhears the couple over the Intercom. Gammerdinger gives a course on mushroom picking and consumption, but Danielle ignores his warning against combining alcohol with a species she took home.
